NU Amorphic Family

NU 아모픽 패밀리

Volume 2 «Objet Type» Nutype's second project, through combine with 'Cermaic art', has expanded the font to physically sense and experience, not just visual elements. At the same time, ceramic art combined with fonts, transcend their materiality and offer new ways of interpretation and experience in digital. This project focuses on exploring an experiential exchange that has not been attempted in each respective field. Based on three characteristics of ceramic art, we have created three typefaces. NU Amorphic is derived from the Greek a- (absent) + morphe (form), meaning “having no fixed shape.” NU Amorphic breaks away from the formality and balance of traditional Latin typefaces, and functions as a sculptural object that transcends type with its natural flowing lines and unpredictable shapes.

Through amorphic type, the act of reading is no longer a passive engagement; it demands exploration. The eye glides through the text as if navigating a liquid surface, encountering moments of clarity interwoven with abstraction. There is no single perspective, no definitive structure—only a shifting interplay of elements, a choreography of evolving forms.

Amorphic type exists within the spectrum of weightlessness and presence, never fully contained yet never entirely absent. It evokes a sense of dissolution—edges fade, contours blur, and meanings shift as the eye navigates its fluid structures. The characters seem to dissolve into one another, creating layered compositions that reject the static nature of conventional type. They hover, suspended in space, challenging the notion of fixed identity within a letterform.
