AG 마당 돋보임
《AG 마당 돋보임》은 연구소가 소장하고 있는 ‘마당체’ 원도, 한글 174자를 기준으로 한글 11,172자와 라틴은 한글의 특징을 담아 설계되었습니다. 원도는 디자이너 안상수가 잡지 『마당』의 아트 디텍터로 재직할 당시 그렸고, 1995년 안상수가 설계한 〈안상수체〉의 전 단계인 네모틀 조합형 글꼴입니다. 속공간이 극단적으로 작고, 글자사이도 매우 촘촘하며 닿자와 글자너비가 불규칙한 것이 특징입니다. 또한 방안지에 제도하듯 그렸기에 곡선을 최대로 배제한 기하학적 형태로 구성되어 있으며, 속공간이 극단적으로 작아 복고풍 레터링에 가깝습니다. 《AG 마당 돋보임》은 ‘마당체’ 원도의 주된 특징인 촘촘한 글자사이를 유지하였고, 첫닿자 크기를 일률적으로 맞추었습니다. 그리드를 활용하여 원도에서 나타난 불규칙한 글자너비를 9가지로 정제한 가변너비 글꼴입니다. 모든 획과 공간, 글자사이는 엄격한 그리드 규칙 내에서 움직이며 섞어짜기를 할 경우 한글, 라틴 대문자, 숫자는 윗선에 글줄흐름선이 형성되고, 라틴 소문자는 아랫선에서 글줄흐름선이 형성되는 독특한 구조를 가지고 있습니다. 《AG 마당 돋보임》은 이러한 80-90년대의 복고풍 감성에 일정한 규칙을 부여하여 현대와 어울리도록 새로운 인상을 더하였습니다.

오늘날 복잡한 도시 생활 속에서 우리 모두가 ‘이웃’이란 관념과 태도를 갖기 위해서는 딱딱하고 공식적인 인간관계보다 친밀하고 비공식적인 인간관계가 더욱 필요하다. 20세기에 들어민주주의가 발달하자 대통령의기자 회견이 제도화되었다. 국가 지도자들은 자신의활동이 언론에 의해수동적으로 전달되기만을 기다리지않고 적극적으로 언론을이용하여 대중적 인기를얻으려 한다. 역대 대통령들이기자 회견 방식을통해서 그들의 언론관, 그들과 국민과의 관계를재조명해 보자.
