〈Choijeongho〉, designed by Hangeul type designer Choi Jeongho, is a Serif typeface. The design was requested by Ahn Sang–soo in 1988 and turned out to be the posthumous original drawings by Choi Jeong–ho. At the time, the typeface was unnamed. Despite the fact that Choi had designed numerous typefaces, there was not a typeface named after him. Thus this last work was named Choijeongho after the designer. The condensed style, which was distinctive from the type style then, is the characteristics of 〈Choijeongho〉. The large consonants and counter spaces make the letters appear larger. The large serifs and sharp stroke ends make the type appear visually strong although it is a brush–oriented text typeface. 〈AG Choijeongho〉 is a digital typeface developed based on the original drawings of 1,296 Hangeul letters of 〈Choijeongho〉. It is developed in two versions; The first is Std.version which is composed of 2,574—Hangeul letters, 296—Roman Alphabets and extended Roman Alphabets, and 776—symbols including punctuations.
Serifs are large and sharp, and the stroke ends are angular and firm.
The weight of curve strokes is slightly lightened for even grayness. The shape is also adjusted to appear natural in relation to the brush direction.
The symbols are positioned in relation to Hangeul. When symbols are typeset exclusively with the Latin alphabet or numerals, the application program’s Settings menu needs to be adjusted.
