Since Korea belongs to the Chinese character culture, there are many Chinese characters in our language, but people rarely expose Chinese characters in everyday life. As the types of Chinese character fonts that workers can select are limited and the range of the choice is so narrow, it seems to be considered old-fashioned day by day. Why not create a new font people might be interested in? I wanted to get rid of the prejudices against Chinese characters. Meanwhile, I came across to see Chinese monk’s [Diamon stura] manuscript, and ‘Honghae font’ is a Chinese character font based on that. I produced 1860 letters, which are consisted of 1800 Chinese characters commonly used in Korea, and 60 heterogeneous or frequently used letters. I designed it for at least over 30 point and set for vertical writing title version. I will continue adding and drawing letters to ‘Honghae font’ afterwards.
