Philipp was born and raised in the flat heart of Northern Germany. He studied at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Kiel, and continued at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), completing the Type and Media program. After a period of movement between Berlin and Copenhagen, working with several foundries, he returned to Berlin to establish his own practice devoted to type design and typography. Since 2023, he has been teaching type design at his alma mater in Kiel.
