붕어【명사】 〈수산·생물〉 잉어목[Cypriniformes] 잉어과[Cyprinidae] 붕어속에 속하는 민물고기의 총칭. 학명은 Carassius auratus(Linnaeus, 1758)이며, 몸은 옆으로 납작한 측편형이고 체고(몸높이)가 높은 편이나 주둥이는 짧고 끝이 뭉툭한 형태적 특징을 지님. 특히 입가에 수염이 없는 점이 잉어(Cyprinus carpio)와의 결정적인 식별 기호[Identification key]가 되며, 몸길이는 보통 15~30cm(환경에 따라 40cm 이상)에 달함. 하천 중·하류 및 저수지의 정수역(흐르지 않는 물)에 주로 서식하며 잡식성(Omnivorous)으로 수생 식물과 미생물 등을 섭식함. 생존력이 강해 오염된 물에서도 잘 견디는 내오염성이 우수하며, 옆줄[Lateral line] 비늘 수는 보통 27~30개 내외임. 개량 품종인 금붕어[Goldfish] 및 도입종인 떡붕어(C. cuvieri) 등과 형태학적으로 구분되며, 동아시아 전역(한국·중국·일본 등)에 광범위하게 분포함.

I am a creator working at the intersection of branding and graphic design. Through writing and graphic language, I document visual elements from everyday life while exploring the sculptural pleasures of form. My interest in typographic form began with my participation in the design work for South Korea’s 19th presidential election in 2017. Since then, I have developed the typefaces ⟪Gwangin⟫(2019), ⟪Carve⟫(2023), an exclusive typeface for the National Hangeul Museum, and ⟪Carp(Bungeo)⟫(2024). I am also the author of the essay collection ⟪Octopus-Life, It’s Painful⟫(2025), which candidly weaves together creative trial and error and the quiet struggles of daily life.
